First of all, I bet your buddy isn't paying $120 a year for full coverage for his Supra. $120 a month maybe- even if the proverbial "little old lady from Pasadena" is driving, the comprehensive and collision is based on the car's value, unlike liability, which is based on the driver's experience. Secondly, insurance companies aren't as dumb as you think they are. You may get away with getting the car insured under someone else's name, but the whole reason you have insurance is so that you are covered if you wipe out your car, someone else's car, someone else's property, or someone else's life. So if the insurance company to whom you are paying $100 a month so that you can drive your "grandmother's" TTZ full time finds out that it is garaged at your place and she never sets foot in the thing, you will get sued by your insurance company if you ever rack up a big claim. Remember that they have lawyers on staff that do nothing but sue people so that the insurance company isn't out of pocket- you may get away with it for a while, but when you need the coverage the most you will get buried. Just my $0.02. I am sure that lots of people get away with this, but it is getting harder to do. -John P :My friends got a 94 supra and he pays 120 bucks full coverage on it, he says its under his girlfriends moms name. I've got 1 ticket and an accident on my record from a while back. anyways heres the damage....... I pay F'in 375 bucks a month for full coverage on my 92 TTZ. Is it possible to put it under my grandmothers name or my moms name, like its their car and have me as another driver? also, if thats the case would i have to be identified on the insurance or could i be listed as an anonymous driver??? :could someone please, please, please give me the pros and cons on this.... Thank you in advance.
